Rural Development: What Can Be Done?
There are many opportunities to develop rural communities in order to provide a prosperous future for the people of Africa.
An increase in agricultural production will lead to increased economic growth, providing the much needed funds for the improvement of health care and education.
Farming
The majority of African farmers are involved in subsistence farming. Through the development of agricultural resources farmers will be able to use their crops as a valuable source of income.
By using modern farming techniques farmers can nearly double the yield of their crops. The shift from subsistence farming to farming more productive farming techniques can be as simple as supporting the farmers with the construction of fences to prevent animals from destroying crops.

Water Access
Access to water is imperative to the development of rural communities, without it there will be a major struggle in obtaining agricultural growth.
The drilling of a bore hole in an arid area can result in the difference between a community facing devastation in a time of drought and the community prospering due to the higher prices received for its produce at market.
You can make a difference by entering a partnership, donating or volunteering.
