Become a Partner

GAPS endeavours to link organisations and groups in the developed world with similar organisations and groups in the developing world. Our vision is that:

  • in education, schools on both sides can build meaningful relationships;
  • in medical development, primary health care in the developing world can interact with primary health care in the developed world;
  • in microfinance, big business can assist small business; and
  • in rural development, developed world organisations can support and advise developing world infrastructure and agricultural programs.

Under the partnership model, organisations here in Australia contribute finances and expertise to a partner organsiation or community in Africa. While the funds and expertise enable the community in Kenya or Ghana to lift itself out of poverty, the organsiation here in Australia benefits in a number of ways:

  • it develops an ongoing relationship with the community enabling it to directly see and track the effect of its contribution
  • GAPS facilitates interaction with the community in the way of blogs, email and video messages. This enables a long lasting bond to be created so that the community becomes a partner in development, rather than a mere aid recipient.
  • if desired by the Australian organsiation, GAPS can conduct educational modules on development issues facing the partner community. This could take the form of one off presentations or ongoing interactive seminars.

GAPS can facilitate opportunities for members of the organisation here in Australia to travel to Africa to visit the partner community or organisation.
