Teaching at a semi-rural Primary School (Kenya)

Location: Ngong, approximately one hour from Nairobi, Kenya

Suitable for: anyone

Date constraints: not available during the Kenyan school holidays (December until early January) although similar teaching placements may be arranged during these times at informal schools or training centres.

Teach English, maths or science at a semi rural school in Ngong.

Teaching by volunteers gives local students the opportunity to the close teaching attention they generally lack as class sizes are generally well in excess of 30 students. Interacting with native English speakers also improves their English – crucial if they are to prosper in a country where English is the language of education, business and politics. Volunteers have a significant and long lasting impact on the students are remembered long after they are gone. Teaching at a school provides you with an experience you will never forget and is sure to result in many life-long friends.
